Preity Zinta Biography
Preity Zinta is an Indian film actress, producer and entrepreneur.
She is best known as a popular heroine in Hindi films.
Apart from Hindi, she has also acted in Telugu, Punjabi
and English language films. Apart from playing the lead role,
she has appeared in various supporting roles and various
on-screen personalities in films.
She has won several awards for her work in films,
including two Filmfare Awards and Screen Awards, and
three IIFA Awards, Zee Cine Awards and Stardust Awards.
Born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Preity made her big screen
debut in 1998 with the film Dil Se.. after completing her
graduation in English and Criminal Psychology
and acted in the film Soldier the same year.
She won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress for her
performances in these films. She later played the role
of a teenage single mother in the film Kya Kehna (2000).
Zinta won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her
performance in the drama Kaal Ho Na Ho in 2003.
She then starred in two of India's highest-grossing films in two
consecutive years, the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya
in 2003 and the romantic film Veer-Zaara in 2004.
She played the role of an independent modern Indian woman
in Salaam Namaste (2005) and the highest-grossing film
outside India, Kavi Albida Na Kehna (2006).
Her first international film was the Canadian film Heaven
on Earth, for which she won the Silver Hugo Award for
Best Actress at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival.
