Shah Rukh Khan. Informally known as SRK,
an Indian actor, producer and television presenter.
Known as the "Baadshah", "King of Bollywood"
and "King Khan",
Shah Rukh Khan has acted in over 90 films.
He has won numerous awards, including
fourteen Filmfare Awards, eight of which were for Best Actor.
In 2002, the Government of India awarded Shah Rukh Khan
the Padma Shri for his outstanding contribution to
Hindi cinema, and the Government of France awarded
him the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Légion d'honneur.
Shah Rukh Khan was awarded an honorary doctorate by the
University of Edinburgh, Scotland's oldest university,
for his global contribution as an actor.
He has an estimated 4.2 billion fans in Asia and worldwide and
a net worth of Rs 73 billion.
Shah Rukh Khan began his acting career in the late 1980s
by appearing in several television serials.
He made his film debut with the 1992 film Deewana.
He rose to fame early in his career with roles as a villain
in the films Fear (1993), Baazigar (1993), and Anjaam.
He has since gone on to star in numerous commercially
successful films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995),
Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998),
Mohabbatein (2000), and Kavi Khushi Kavi Gham... (2001).
He has also appeared as Devdas Mukherjee,
an alcoholic landlord's son, in Devdas (2002),
a NASA scientist in Swadesh (2004), Chak De!
He gained recognition for his portrayal of a hockey
coach in India (2007) and a man with Asperger's syndrome
in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films
include the romantic comedy Chennai Express (2013),
the suspense comedy Happy New Year (2014),
the action film Dilwale (2015) and the crime film Raees (2017).
After a short hiatus, Shah Rukh returned with the action
film Pathan (2023),
which is the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
Since 2015, Shah Rukh Khan has been the co-chairman
of the film production company Red Chillies Entertainment
and its subsidiaries, and co-owner of the Indian Premier League
team Kolkata Knight Riders and the Caribbean Premier League
team Trinbago Knight Riders.
He is often seen hosting television shows and performing in
stage shows. He is often referred to by the media as
"Brand SRK" for his product ambassadorship and
entrepreneurship. UNESCO awarded him the Pyramid con
Marni Award for his contribution to children's education,
and the World Economic Forum awarded him the Crystal Award
in 2018 for his leadership in protecting women's and children's
rights in India.
He is frequently listed as one of the most influential people
in Indian culture. In 2008,
Newsweek included him in its list of the 50 Most Powerful
People in the World.
